on the OCEAN HIGHWAY

Maps

Steve has ridden from Florence, Oregon south into southern California three times to date. The first two followed an inland route along the eastern Sierra Nevada mountains. The PCTA meanders along coastal highways 101 and 1.

The following map shows the Oregon coast portion to the California border. The trike pilots followed Highway 101 south from Florence. Once in California, they left 101 on occasion when Highway 1 offered a more rural coastal view.

Overnights in Oregon included the campgrounds of: Bastendorff County Park (west of Charleston), Humbug Mountain State Park (south of Port Orford & north of Gold Beach), and Harris Beach (Brookings, just north of California border). The cyclists crossed the California state line on the morning of Day Four. Read the story of this journey for all the details of the trip.

The following maps show the California portion of the coastal leg on the Pacific Coast Tricycle Adventure. Campgrounds have been marked in red pen, although only a few of those shown were actually needed or used.  The campgrounds marked with mileages show the mileage from the prior campground marked with a mileage.
